2024 Canada $1 5 oz Fine Silver Coin – Emanuel Hahn's Original Sketch: Parliament

This 5 oz fine silver coin recreates Emanuel Hahn's original pencil sketch for Canada's 1939 Royal Visit silver dollar, showing the Parliament buildings. The fold marks and draft lines of the sketch are engraved into the coin in incuse relief, on a thin 110 mm coin with an antique finish. The obverse carries T. H. Paget's effigy of King George VI.

Only 1,350 were made. It comes in the Royal Canadian Mint clamshell with its art card and outer box.

Emanuel Hahn was one of Canada's most important coin designers; his work includes the Bluenose dime and the Voyageur dollar. For King George VI's 1939 Royal Visit he designed a commemorative silver dollar showing the Centre Block of Parliament, and this coin reproduces his original working sketch for it.
