2023 Canada 5-Cent 2 oz Fine Silver Coin – 1947 Maple Leaf Mark (Gilded)

One of Canadian numismatics' great stories, retold at two ounces of gilded silver. In early 1948, India's independence made the royal title “ET IND IMP” obsolete — but new dies hadn't arrived from London, so the Mint struck 1947-dated coins bearing a tiny maple leaf beside the date to mark them as 1948 strikes. This 2023 tribute magnifies the beloved 1947 Maple Leaf five-cent piece to a spectacular 50 mm format: G.E. Kruger Gray's beaver and T.H. Paget's George VI effigy faithfully recreated from archival photographs, richly dressed in selective gold plating on both faces.
