2006 Canada $5 Fine Silver Double Hologram Coin & Stamp Set – Canadian Forces Snowbirds

This 2006 set from the Royal Canadian Mint and Canada Post salutes the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. It pairs a $5 coin in 99.99% fine silver, with a double hologram of Snowbirds jets, with a souvenir sheet of two 51¢ Snowbirds stamps.

The souvenir sheet is marked as flown by the Snowbirds on 27 March 2006 (431 Squadron, Moose Jaw, SK), and each set includes a serialized Snowbirds plaque, all in a blue velvet hexagonal case.

Historical Significance

The Snowbirds, 431 Squadron, are the Canadian Forces aerobatic team, flying from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in their red and white Tutor jets. The booklet also recalls the Mint's earlier Snowbirds coin from 1997.
