1993 UK £5 Coronation 40th Anniversary Sterling Silver Proof Crown – Numbered Certificate

This 1993 £5 sterling silver proof crown marks 40 years since the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Robert Elderton's reverse shows St Edward's Crown ringed by forty trumpets, with the dates 1953–1993.

It comes in its red Royal Mint case with Certificate of Authenticity No. 7333 and the information booklet.

Historical Significance

Queen Elizabeth II was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953. For the 40th anniversary in 1993 the Royal Mint issued this crown in cupronickel, sterling silver proof and gold proof. Just under 59,000 of the silver proofs were struck against an issue limit of 100,000.
